Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT) Services

A region-wide service offering evidence-based treatment and ongoing and comprehensive support for individuals with opioid use disorders, including connections to additional health services including other community resources.

Who is served & What is served:

Opioid Agonist Treatment services support individuals diagnosed with opioid use disorder. This includes people using prescription opioids (such as oxycodone, hydromorphone, and Percocet) or illicit opioids (such as heroin and fentanyl). Treatment is delivered in safe, supervised clinical settings and includes evidence-based medications. In addition, Opioid Agonist Treatment services offer take-home naloxone kits and facilitate connections to other services and community support.

What to Expect:

Clients can expect:

Medication-based treatment, such as buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone), methadone, and oral morphine (SROM)/Kadian.
Ongoing addiction medicine support and monitoring.
Individualized treatment planning.
Harm reduction support such as take-home naloxone kits and education on safer use and overdose prevention.
Connections with health and community supports across the Fraser Region such as referrals and coordination with primary care providers and connections with counselling, mental health services, and community supports.

Community healthcare providers can complete the referral forms by calling Fraser Health Access Line: Mental Health and Substance Use (Home of Access Central for Substance Use Services) (1-833-866-MHSU) or by calling clinics directly, as listed below.

For same day service, individuals may also attend a Rapid Access to Addiction Care (RAAC) clinic for assessment, stabilization, and referrals. Click here to learn more about RAAC clinics.
