Income Tax Assistance - For low income Delta residents

Offered in March and April to assist individuals and families complete their income tax returns.
Deltassist hosts the Canada Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) program through the Canada Revenue Agency. Every year volunteers are available during March and April to assist individuals and families who are unable to complete their income tax returns. This service is for low income Delta residents only. Clinic appointments may also be available throughout the year on an as-needed basis.

This work helps many access benefits from:
  • GST tax credits
  • Child Tax Benefits
  • Guaranteed Income Supplements for Seniors
  • MSP Premium Assistance
  • Pharmacare
Individuals unable to pay for assistance and unable to complete their income tax still must submit Canadian income tax returns to be able to qualify for the help and support they need to both survive and work out of their situation. The timely submission of a tax return is critical to receiving the GST tax credit and the Canada Child Tax Benefit for those in immediate need.
