Kiwassa Neighbourhood house provides settlement support services to immigrants, refugees, and refugee claimants in East Vancouver
One-on-One Support: One-on-one service is offered in English, Farsi/Dari, Cantonese/Mandarin, and Spanish. Offers free help with navigation of government systems, including applications and forms such as BC Housing, Child Tax Benefit, Childcare Subsidy, Canadian Passport Renewal, Income Assistance, Unemployment Insurance (EI), Rental Assistance, Visas, PR-Renewal, Citizenship Application, School Enrolment, Healthcare (MSP, Pharmacare), Old Age Supplement (OAS), Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS), BC Transit passes, and so much more!

Settlement Support Services: Kiwassa Neighbourhood House offers in-depth settlement services to immigrants and refugees who need extra support such as emotional and social support, accompaniment and home visiting, needs assessment and developing a personal plan. This is intended to help them learn about, settle, and integrate into their new community.

Youth Settlement Programs: Youth Settlement program offers life skills workshops, one on one support, group activities and field trips for newcomer youths, designed to help youth connect to local communities and learn about Vancouver and Canadian Culture.

Community Engagement Programs: Our programs and services help empower people to find ways to contribute to the community. These services include:
  • Community Leadership Training: The program assists in creating a more welcoming and inclusive community. Free (childminding, bus tickets and healthy snacks are included). Please, contact us for more information.
  • English Conversation Circle: Program provides beginner and intermediate English conversation classes to assist individuals in connecting with people in the community and to strengthen their English speaking skills. Free (childminding, snacks, and bus tickets will be provided). Please, contact us for more information.
