Early Years and Family Programs

The program provides comprehensive support for children aged 0 to 6, ensuring they have the best possible start in life. It offers families easy access to programs, information, and services that promote early childhood development. Parents and caregivers can connect with early learning opportunities, health resources, and family support services.
These programs and services help give youngsters 0 to 6 years the best possible start in life by making it easy for families to access programs, information, and services that supports their child’s development. The following programs are offered:
  • Family Place Drop In Centre: Free, welcoming and multicultural program open to families with children age 0 to 6 years old. This drop-in program includes circle time, lunch, outings and a variety of fun activities. This is also a safe space for parents to connect, learn and feel supported in raising their children. Drop-in basis on Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 am 12:00 pm and Saturday from 10:30 am - 1:00 pm.
  • Circle of Security: An 8 week parenting program designed to support parents to build healthy and secure relationship with their children. Registration required; contact horaciov@kiwassa.ca to register.
  • Mother Goose: An 8 week program for parents and caregivers with children under 3 years old. Mother Goose uses rhymes, songs, and stories as the basis for early childhood development and literacy, and healthy caregiver/ child attachment. Registration required; contact horaciov@kiwassa.ca to register.
  • Spanish Parent Support Circles: Free, welcoming, self-help and peer support group offered to Spanish speaking parents, grandparents and other caregivers. The circle provides participants with a supportive network, promotes self-advocacy, empowers and boosts self-esteem and helps create a healthier living environment for all families.
  • Tales for Tots: A 10 week early literacy program that includes story boards, crafts, and songs for parents and caregivers with children under 5 years old. Registration required; contact horaciov@kiwassa.ca to register.
  • Wellness Workshops and Practical Support Series: Free workshops and series with a focus on wellness and health offered throughout the year. Registration required; contact horaciov@kiwassa.ca to register.
  • Domestic Violence Prevention Program: This program offers support to both women and men impacted by violence. The program provides information, advocacy and referral, help with understanding the legal system and the child protection law, various workshops and emotional support.
  • Nobody's Perfect: Registration required; contact horaciov@kiwassa.ca to register.
