Seniors Programs

Provided by Marpole Oakridge Family Place

Various social and support programs for seniors.
The following programs are offered:
  • Seniors Community Connections: This program includes workshops, guest speakers, activities, and field trips. Engage in monthly activities with youth volunteers to build an intergenerational connection within your community. Connect with likeminded seniors in the community to share skills, enjoy hobbies, and participate in group activities. Runs on Mondays from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm.

  • South Vancouver Seniors Network (SVSN): The South Vancouver Seniors Network is a collaboration of non-profit organizations supporting seniors in Marpole Oakridge and wider South Vancouver. They host a webinar that covers a variety of topics relevant to seniors every Thursday over Zoom at 10:30 am to 11:30 am.

  • My Life Kit: The My Life Kit is a booklet that centralizes personal information, medical history, emergency response procedures, and community resource contacts. It is ideal for seniors, people with chronic illnesses, and people who live alone. In the event of an emergency, the My Life Kit assists Emergency Responders in providing timely and informed care. These booklets are assembled and distributed by Marpole Oakridge Family Place. During operational hours, anyone can drop by and request as many as they would like.

  • Income Tax Clinic: Every year in March and April, MOFP offers a free income tax clinic for seniors and vulnerable community members who qualify for this service. A team of volunteers trained by the Canada Revenue Agency provides confidential online tax filing. Offered by appointment only.
All senior services are offered at no cost.
