Community Brain Injury Program

Provides short term, home and community-based rehabilitation in BC for children and youth with an acquired brain injury.
The Community Brain Injury Program for Children and Youth (CBIPCY) offers individualized acute rehabilitation support including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech-language pathology, and service coordination. Services offered also include acute rehabilitation, service coordination, and transition planning.

This free service is available to children and youth up to 19 years old who:
  • Are diagnosed with an acquired brain injury post-birth from a one-time illness or injury, such as a traumatic brain injury, brain tumor, infection, stroke/AVM, and other causes
  • Require rehabilitation and support services
  • Were injured or diagnosed within the past 12 months
  • Have resided in B.C for at least a year and are BC residents with a right to live permanently in Canada
  • Are not receiving funding through third party sources, including ICBC, Crime Victim Assistance, Private Insurance or lawsuit
Referrals can be made by parents, community or medical professionals. They must be accompanied by medical documentation. Please use the Children & Youth Services Referral online form.
