YMCA Healthy Heart Program - Lower Mainland

Provided by YMCA

Provides a community-based cardiac prevention, rehabilitation and maintenance program that supports people living with cardiac risk through education and supervised exercise.
The program is designed to help cardiovascular patients and those at risk of developing heart disease actively improve their health, increase their physical fitness, and reduce the risk of future heart problems.

All participants must be referred to the program by their physician.

There is a monthly program fee.

The fully virtual Healthy Heart at Home program: Offers participants two weekly classes on Zoom per week for a fee of $40/month.
The hybrid program: Offers participants one virtual class and one in-person class, the fee varies by location for the following reason:
  • The classes in Surrey (at the Tong Louie YMCA) and in Coquitlam (at the Bettie Allard YMCA) will have a fee of $80/month as these participants also get a complimentary YMCA membership to be able to wok out in the facility outside of class time.
  • Port Moody Hybrid Program - $60/month (as this class does not take place in a YMCA facility and so participants do not also get a complimentary YMCA membership).
For those that cannot afford to participate, financial assistance is offered to ensure everyone gets the chance to live their best life. This is based on financial need and the cost of each program. The participant may be asked to submit a copy of the most recent "Notice of Assessment" from Revenue Canada for not only themselves but also any other adults living in the household such as a spouse/partner or adult children living at home as the assessment is based on total household income.
Class schedules for all locations are (below) under Patient Information. This information can be printed out and given to patients by clicking the "Print Information for Patient" button.
