Access Central - Detox Referral Line

A phone line available 7 days a week to provide clinical assessments, and information on or help finding Addiction Medicine and substance use services throughout the Island Health Authority area.
Access Central is Island Health's single point of access for people who may need withdrawal management (detox) services. An individual can call Access Central for free to speak with a health care team about their drug or alcohol use. The team is available just to listen, or can assist with making an individualized plan and connect the client to services like withdrawal management (detox), counselling, or treatment programs.

How it works:
  • Anyone residing on Vancouver Island or the Gulf Islands can call the Access Central Line for free at 1-888-885-8824 available 7 days a week from 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM, no referral required
  • Speak with a member of the care team or leave a voicemail - someone will return the call within 24 hours
  • The care team will create an individualized detox plan and provide connections to community resources
