Step Up Step Down (SUSD) Outreach Services - Child & Youth MHSU
Addictions / Substance Use, Mental Health - Child & Youth, and Services for Children
Provided by Island Health
Services may include:
- Brief interventions customized to support the entire family system
- Identify where the young person has been, where they are now, and where they hope to go
- Provides connection to the most appropriate community partner(s)
- Minimizes gaps in care and ensures a smooth family-centred transition to the service best suited to meet current needs
- Services are for children and youth who are up to 19 years of age, who have
- Severe mental health needs and/or substance use issues (e.g., psychosis, mood disorder, concurrent disorder, personality disorders, problematic substance use), and
- Safety concerns such as risk of suicide, self-harm, danger to others, etc.
- A referral is required (providers see below)
