Unity House - Psychosocial support & employment skills programs for individuals with mental illness

A community based program that provides support from which clients with mental illnesses can pursue improvements in health, social functioning, and community involvement.
The Clubhouse provides social, recreational and educational programs for individuals living with a mental illness. Members volunteer to assist with the meals program that offers lunch daily and dinners twice a week. Takeout meals, beverages and snacks are sold at the concession. There is a referral form that must be completed for membership.
Offers the following employment skills programs for individuals with mental illness:

Concession Program
  • Welcomes members
  • Takes and fills orders of everything from coffee, meals, take outs, and snacks
  • Makes coffee throughout the day as needed
  • Sells cash cards
  • Refills takeout freezer and pop cooler
  • Keeps area clean and tidy
Business Program:
  • Implements the use of computers
  • Helps with meal menus for the day (lunch and dinner)
  • Contributes to Unity Views
  • Prints off minutes for members meetings
  • Helps with meal plans and grocery lists
  • Helps with stats for attendance and meals
Janitorial Program:
  • Maintains the clubhouse – changes light bulbs unplugs toilets, does the vacuuming
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the bathrooms cleaning toilets, sink, mirrors, and floors
  • Orders supplies
Kitchen Program:
  • Plans and prepares meals and snacks
  • Cleans up after meals – dishes, pots and pans, silverware
  • Maintains clean floor and sanitizer
  • Encourages food-safe education and certification
Unity House also offers a variety of social and recreational activities. A monthly calendar is published in the newsletter Unity Views.
