Older Adult Outreach Program (OAOP)

The OAOP program provides case management and care giver support for clients who are 65 years or older, struggling with a cognitive or progressive memory disorder with an associated psychiatric and/or behavioral management concern.
The multi-disciplinary team includes Psychiatric Nurses, mental health support workers, OTs, Psychiatry and Outreach Workers in Squamish. Satellite services to Whistler and Pemberton are available but are locally provided by a generalist clinician within the teams.

Programming available to clients includes:

  • Access to specialized geriatric psychiatric consultation and ongoing support
  • Outreach services to support client with functional impairments who require support in the community to work on therapeutic goals related to their recovery
  • Group programming to support symptoms management, skill building, leisure and community integration
  • Access to Occupational Therapist (OT) consultation for functional and cognitive assessment and treatment recommendations

    Eligibility:
  • Resident of Squamish, Pemberton or surrounding areas or Whistler
  • Ages 65 or older who are struggling with a cognitive or progressive memory disorder with an associated psychiatric and/or behavioral management concern.
  • Criteria may also include clients who have recently developed serious mental illness with physical and functional decline or a mental illness co-occurring with misuse of alcohol, prescription medications or other substance of misuse.
