Provided by Vancouver Coastal Health

  • Air Quality Program-We provide information and responds to complaints/concerns regarding indoor air quality. Works with other groups to improve ambient air quality. In most communities, this program is responsible for enforcing smoke-free indoor air quality regulations.
  • Community Care Facilities Licensing-Community care facility licensing protects and promotes the health, safety and well-being of vulnerable children and adults in licensed care facilities. We do this through education, collaboration and regulation.
  • Drinking Water Safety-We are committed to the protection of drinking water and preventing the spread of water-borne diseases. In addition we work to alert and protect the public from chemical or other water contaminants. Drinking Water Officers throughout the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority approve, inspect and monitor drinking water supplies for compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Food Service Permits and Health Approvals-The primary goal of Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) is to ensure food premises maintain a high standard of food safety and sanitation, as well as to protect the health of the public. EHOs facilitate the process of issuing permits and granting health approvals required for operating food premises. This includes reviewing documentation, conducting assessments, and ensuring compliance with health regulations.
  • Tobacco and Vapour Reduction Program-Tobacco reduction programs support initiatives related to smoking cessation, smoking prevention and protection from second-hand smoke.
