Seniors Services

Various social and support programs for seniors 55+ living in Kitsilano.
Various programming is available to seniors, including:
  • Exercise Programs: Includes Choose to Move, Osteofit, and Chair Yoga ($).
  • Lunch Programs: Available ever Tuesday.
  • Knitting Circle: for Seniors
  • Better at Home: Better at Home is a program that helps seniors with simple non-medical, day-to-day tasks so that they can continue to live independently in their own homes, and remain connected to their communities. Services include transportation, housekeeping, grocery shopping, and volunteer visiting.
  • 55 and Better: a program for older adults 55-64 that helps these young seniors with light housekeeping to support them in continuing to live independently at home and remain connected to the community. The catchment area is from the water to the west of Granville Street and north of King Edward Avenue.
  • Safe Seniors, Strong Communities: Aims to ensure that isolated seniors 65+ are able to access all resources that they need while staying safe, connected and engaged from home. Through this program, our staff and volunteers are delivering grocery shopping/delivery; prescription pick up and delivery, telephone check-ins/virtual friendly visits, and prepared frozen meals and delivery.


Programs indicated with '$' have a modest price associated with them ranging up to $30. A membership is required to access the free programs. Memberships cost $10 a year for individuals and $20 for families, and a subsidy is available for people facing financial hardship.
