Richmond Family and Friend Caregiver Hub - Wellness Services for Caregivers

Provided by Richmond Cares Richmond Gives (RCRG)

Provides services that improve the health and wellness of caregivers caring for older adults in Richmond.
The program promotes the health and well-being of those who provide unpaid care to an older adult, whether a family member, friend, or neighbour. All services are free of charge and available in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

The following services are offered through the hub:
  • Relax, recharge, reset workshop series: Provides caregivers an opportunity to try a variety of stress reduction activities, such as yoga, mindful meditation, tai chi, and expressive art therapy. Sessions are held throughout Richmond and include light refreshments.
  • Education and support services: A team member will listen to caregivers concerns and needs and will do their best to help in any way they can. This may involve recommending books or educational resources or referring individuals to other community services for additional support. They also offer a five-session Education & Support Series, which covers topics like stress management, navigating the health care system, communication, problem-solving, and more.
  • One-on-one coaching: Coaching and emotional support provided by peer caregivers.
  • Information & Referral: The site includes a large and growing selection of articles, educational resources, and videos, making it easy to find information on dozens of caregiving-related topics.
