Encore Careers - Employment Program for Older Adults

Employment support for older adults over 55 years of age and who are unemployed or precariously employed.
Encore Careers is a government-funded employment program designed to assist people aged 55 and older in their job search. It offers support in sustainable employment or self-employment, career exploration, skills training, and more over 10 weeks. This program can be a lifeline for those who have unexpectedly lost their jobs, those re-entering the workforce out of necessity, or individuals eager to rejoin work and explore new career paths as part of their later-stage journey.

Program highlights:
  • 6 weeks of in-class training
  • 4 weeks of individual/ customized support
  • Digital Literacy Skills
  • Job Search Strategies for traditional, home-based and gig jobs
  • Career Exploration in today’s labour market
  • Networking & self-marketing skills
Program eligibility:
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person (under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, S.C. 2001, c.27) legally entitled to work in Canada, (work permit or visa conditions may restrict participation);
  • Living in British Columbia;
  • Not a full-time student (i.e., not enrolled in high school or in post-secondary training), and
  • Not actively participating in another provincially or federally funded labour market program;
  • Currently Unemployed, or Precariously Employed;
  • Age 55+
