Communication Accessibility Services

Provided by Wavefront Centre for Communication Accessibility

Offers services to reduce hearing-related communication barriers by providing access and inclusion for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals, their families and the community
Seniors Outreach: The program helps to ensure isolated seniors stay connected with their communities. This includes the Better at Home Program. Wavefront Centre’s Better at Home (BH) program identifies isolated Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard-of-Hearing Seniors in the Lower Mainland and provides them with volunteer outreach services at home. BH volunteers can be Deaf, Hard of Hearing or hearing. They provide companionship, home visits, transportation assistance, facilitated shopping trips, and other outings so isolated seniors can remain connected to their communities.

Hearing Clinic (Hearing testing and Hearing Aid Services): Provides assessment services with Registered Audiologists (RAUD) and Registered Hearing Instrument Practitioners (RHIP) and works with eligible clients to develop an implementation plan. Service also offers sales of new hearing aids of all major brands with the latest digital technology, speechreading classes, and tinnitus treatment services. Income earned from these services goes towards supporting the social service programs, such as the Lend An Ear Program, which provides refurbished hearing aids to those with limited financial resources.

The cost for a pediatric hearing assessment and report is $125

Funding or financial assistance may be available. For more information, please ask your Wavefront Centre’s hearing health professional, who would be happy to tell you more about how to apply for funding or can apply on your behalf.
