Substance Abuse Counselling Services - For Youth and Families

Provided by Boys and Girls Club

Provides a wide range of services: individual, family and/or group counselling, drop-in, social/recreational activities, referrals, drug/alcohol information and education, crisis intervention.
This program offers a supportive atmosphere where youth feel comfortable exploring substance use concerns and consider options for obtaining a healthier lifestyle. Referral services can also be provided for other programs. The program staff have a special focus on substance use. Each participant is paired with a staff, who assesses their needs, meets them in locations most comfortable for them, and helps with access to counselling spaces. Services offered:

Odyssey I & II:
  • Individual Counselling
  • Group Counselling
  • Family Counselling
  • Drop-in
  • Peer Counselling
  • Social/Recreational Activities
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Prevention Services
  • Referrals and Assessment
  • Networking with other Community Service Agencies
  • Education on Alcohol and Drugs
Nexus:
  • Crisis counselling
  • Individual counselling
  • Travel to youth locations—we recognize the importance of outreach counselling
  • Assistance to youth identifying specific goals and needs
  • Help youth access existing support programs and alcohol and drug services
  • Aftercare service
  • Drop-in counselling services at other street-youth programs
How to access services:
  • Youth can self-refer.
  • There are no fees for counselling services.
  • Anyone can make a referral –Parents/Guardians, Family, Friends, Community and/or medical service providers
  • Contact the office closest to the youth to submit referrals.
  • A name and contact information will be required.
