Settlement and Integration Services for Newcomers

This program provides settlement and integration services to francophone immigrant population, permanent residents and refugees.
Francophone or francophile? As a permanent resident or confirmed refugee, individuals can access a settlement program designed to meet a wide range of settlement needs. This holistic approach includes assessing personal assets and needs, followed by the development and implementation of a tailored settlement and integration plan. The program supports successful integration into life in British Columbia.
Services include information or support for:
- Settlement into the new community
- Housing, banking system, legal system, healthcare, daycares, schooling and public transports
- Forms and applications to various public services
- English through language support
- Making friends and build social relationships or at work
- Programs and services for youth, young adults and seniors
- Preparation for the citizenship test
- Improving digital skills and more
Settlement agents also offer support for:
- Familiarizing with job market practices and current employment provincial trends
- Understanding corporate culture in British Colombia and challenges in staying employed
- Knowing particularities of job industries
- Improved understanding of the new work environment or additional professional training to increase chances of success
- Building social and/or professional networks
- Leveraging cultural and professional differences to one’s advantage
- Discover tips and hints that are necessary for daily life
Free workshops are also offered that provide essential information on various themes that are important for newcomers in British Colombia. Please contact via email in order to be included in the monthly Settlement Services Newsletter. All information about upcoming workshops are included. Workshops are available in French only.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Permanent residents of Canada;
- Refugee claimants who have received a favorable Notice of Decision.
- Clients who have received a letter from IRCC giving approval to remain in Canada while application for PR is being finalized (approval in principle).
- Priority is given to Francophones, or those affiliated with the Francophone community.
How to Register:
Settlement agents are available for in-person visits at the Surrey campus Monday to Friday, from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
