Provided by Settlement Orientation Services (SOS)
Settlement services in detail:
- Provides services in the local community.
- Provide information on government public services (like medical care and schooling) and government rights and responsibilities.
- Confidential support to help individuals and their families adjust to living in British Columbia.
- Connect individuals to services and support in their local community.
- Develop a settlement plan to meet their short- and long-term needs.
- Help individuals gain confidence for their daily life in Canada.
To join the program, individuals must hold one of these statuses in Canada:
- Permanent Resident (PR)
- An Individual selected to become a Permanent Resident, and who has been informed by a letter from the IRCC
- Protected Person, as defined in S.95 of Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protect Act (IRPA)
