OASIS - Online & In-Person Classes for Managing Osteoarthritis

The OASIS Program is a free education program about self-management strategies for arthritis. The sessions are group classes either online (via Zoom) or in-person. See more here https://www.vch.ca/en/oasis-class-descriptions
All OASIS education sessions are free and do not require a referral from a healthcare provider, however, for patients needing additional support to attend education, a referral can be completed and sent to OASIS for follow-up. Patients can visit the website for class schedules and registration information. Education is provided by Educators in the fields of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, and dietetics.

OASIS services include:
  • A variety of education sessions for conservative management of OA on topics such as exercise, nutrition, and pain management. OASIS classes are offered in-person and by webinar (via Zoom). Please see class schedules for registration information. These courses/webinars are offered at no cost. Various class topics are offered, including: arthritis and exercise, managing arthritis, nutrition, pain management, and more.
  • Education to prepare clients for joint replacement surgery.
  • Assistance and referral to relevant community services.

Who can attend the OASIS classes?: Anyone throughout the province with osteoarthritis can register to attend an online class. A referral from a physician is not needed to attend. In-person classes are also open to anyone with osteoarthritis, however, classes take place in Vancouver, Richmond and North Vancouver.
