Eating Disorder Program - Looking Glass Residence - Tertiary Specialized Eating Disorder Program

Tertiary referral specialized residential treatment facility for BC residents aged 16 to 24 years with eating disorders in a home-like, therapeutic environment. This facility is managed by the Provincial Health Services Authority and affiliated with the B.C. Children’s Hospital Eating Disorders Program.
The Looking Glass Residence includes a multi-disciplinary team of caring, dedicated medical and mental health professionals, committed to the care and recovery of young people of all genders, aged 16 to 24, who are suffering from anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and other eating disorders or disordered relationships with food.

Youth at the Residence receive 24/7 support, including individual, group, and family therapy, meal support and nutrition, and medical and psychiatric treatment. During their stay, they also engage in a variety of guided recreation, arts, and leisure activities that encourage self-awareness, a sense of connection, and help them develop the life skills and confidence to live a full life without an eating disorder.

*Access to this program is by referral from a provincial or health authority specialized eating disorder program.

Access requires the following:
- A recent physical exam
- A recent psychiatric assessment
- Before- and after-care support by a health care provider

Individuals may be assessed for treatment at the Looking Glass Residence after participating in community-based eating disorder programs or services or as part of a transition from specialized inpatient care.

The Looking Glass Residence's multidisciplinary program provides a combination of therapy, meal support and education, and psychiatric, medical care in a 24/7 homelike residential environment.

Providing a safe and supportive environment in which to challenge the power of an eating disorder, and learn how to resist using destructive behaviours to cope with daily life.

Patients 19 years and over admitted into publicly-funded beds at Looking Glass Residence are required to pay a daily fee of $30.90
